Hospitalists
Physicians who specialize in the care of patients while they are in the hospital. They may also be specialized in internal, family, or pediatric medicine. From hospital admission through discharge, a hospitalist manages a patient’s care by coordinating and consulting with specialists, scheduling tests, monitoring progress and following up with the patient’s primary care physician and other physician specialists.
Neurophysiology
Physicians who specialize in working with the brain and nervous system by testing electrical functions of the brain and spinal cord as well as other aspects of the nervous system.
Neuropsychology
Physicians who are experienced in treating the psychological, behavioral, and cognitive impact of a TBI.
Ophthalmology
Physicians who are qualified to treat in diseases of and injuries to the eye including the significant problems that can be caused by a traumatic brain injury.
Otolaryngology (ear, nose, and throat)
Physicians trained in caring for physical challenges including those that may be the result of a traumatic brain injury that can affect hearing, speech, swallowing, etc.
Pain Management
Physicians who specialize in diagnosing, treating, and managing the different types of pain including those associated with a traumatic brain injury.
Physiatrist or Rehabilitation Medicine
Physicians specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
