The Importance of Rehabilitation after a Traumatic Brain Injury

Rehabilitation after a traumatic brain injury is critical to recovery. Following a TBI, patients will experience many challenges that a comprehensive, long-term rehab plan can address. Physical challenges can include coordination, movement and balance, a loss of strength, tiredness, chronic pain, and changes in speaking, hearing, vision, and swallowing. Mental and emotional changes may include irritability, mood changes, impulsiveness, memory and concentration, anxiety, and sleep. All of these and others can benefit TBI survivors tremendously.
