Classifying Traumatic Brain Injury: Ranchos Los Amigos Scale and Glasgow Coma Scale

The Rancho Los Amigos Scale (Ranchos Scale or RLAS) was developed at the Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey, CA to evaluate patients coming out of a coma. The Glasgow Coma Scale is often used along with the RLAS scale, but can be used throughout the recovery period to evaluate state of consciousness as well as cognitive and physical functions.
